They call Rio de Janeiro 'cidade maravilhosa', the marvellous city. Rio has the most spectacular setting of all the South American gateways and should be on everyone's wish list.
The twin peaks of Sugarloaf and Corcovado are a must for the first time visitor. Please let us know if you are interested in any particular activities or excursions such as a tour of the Maracana stadium or a visit to the Museu Imperial at Petropolis. We can also arrange a visit to a samba school or cooking lessons or you might be interested in visiting a ballet school in one of the favelas which is supported by the Latin America travel industry via the LATA Foundation.
Fly to Iguassu and transfer to your hotel. One of the great wonders of the natural world, the Iguassu Falls (also referred to as Iguassu and Iguaçu) should be seen from both the Brazilian and Argentine sides.
If you are staying at the fabulous Belmond Hotel Das Cataratas (formerly Orient Express) you can step out of the property and walk directly down the pathways on the Brazilian side of the falls.
If you are staying elsewhere and would like us to book a guided tours of the falls we would be delighted to do so. It is easy enough to arrange a helicopter flight over the falls locally.
If you would like us to include an excursion to the Itaipu Dam, which provides hydro-electric power to Paraguay and the whole of Southern Brazil, please let us know.
Buenos Aires is a city with European influences and considerable charm in a truly Latin American context. Your city tour will take in some of the key places in Buenos Aires, including the Plaza de Mayo, San Telmo and La Boca before continuing to the Puerto Madero docklands which have undergone complete transformation in the last 15 years into a thriving area of bars and restaurants. The tour ends at the elegant district of Recoleta.
